A former banking executive within NatWest and Barclays Steve led the development of card, electronic and online payment systems for both banks. He was at the forefront of many of the systems we recognise today including Chip and Pin, WorldPay and stored value cards.
Having retired early in 2008 Steve then went on to found a mass participation sports events company, Go Beyond, for the sole purpose of raising funds for an education charity, Teach Africa, which he became involved with while leading Barclay's work to consolidate processing operations in Africa.
After eleven successful years raising funds and getting people more active through the Go Beyond events Steve sold the company last year and started looking for his next challenge.
A former international yachtsman and current national age-group triathlete Steve comes with a deep understanding of the sporting world. However, he recognises the distinct shift in national strategy. "Whist I might not have had the same personal experience I absolutely understand the changes we need to make in our own understanding and approaches if we are to reach those we need to. My whole professional career has been around change management and I think I can bring that knowledge into good use for Northamptonshire Sport". A resident of Wellingborough Steve spoke about his passion to help people experience the same benefits from physical activity and sport that he has enjoyed. "I just want more people in our county to experience the thrill of achieving something they thought they couldn't, or love being part of team, or found new friends through being active".

I am Director of Public Health at Northamptonshire County Council with responsibility for keeping the county fit and healthy. As a former gymnast/qualified coach and current learner runner and yogi, I have first hand experience of how physical activity can benefit your health and mental wellbeing - both in early life and as you grow older.
I feel privileged to join the Board of Directors for Northamptonshire Sport as it provides me with the opportunity to shape the valuable services the they provide to ensure they are inclusive, accessible and fun for all!
I am proud to be a dedicated classroom teacher and have been happily teaching in a family oriented Primary school for the past twenty five years. I chose to move down to Northamptonshire from the City of Nottingham because of its' beautiful open spaces and therefore the opportunity to get active outside. Having children of my own; I am a frequent visitor to our well maintained country parks. I'd like to see more children enjoying these facilities with their parents; everyone making it a priority to be active together.
My specialism is PE as I am a PE graduate. I come from a swimming and running background. I was a county level swimmer in my teenage years. I continue to be heavily involved in swimming. I'm a qualified swimming teacher and coach. I proudly and enthusiastically volunteer at my local competitive swimming club and at a children's triathlon club in the area.
My school has been accredited with the quality mark for PE, at distinction level by the Association for PE. During the past few years and as part of my role as leader of PE; I have been working on encouraging active children and parents; not solely competitors. We put emphasis on having an open ethos to encourage whole school participation. Inspiring a lifetime of movement for all levels and abilities; not just during the PE lesson. I have initiated a successful fledgling Forest school, our children practise Tai-chi and as a school we run! Parents, staff and children do this weekly… not for medals but for wellbeing.
I am honoured to be on the Board of Directors for Northamptonshire Sport because I am passionate about every child in Northamptonshire receiving an equal opportunity to access competition if they so wish. But more so; I am intent on helping to provide all Northamptonshire children with equal access to facilities and knowledge so that they can develop and maintain a healthy active lifestyle that will be taken into adult life.
