Trans Inclusion in Sport & Physical Activity

We know that by increasing knowledge and confidence, we can enable Sport and Physical Activity providers to create and implement realistic, welcoming, everyday trans inclusive policies and practices.

Everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of an active life and no-one should be excluded from being active.

In August 2020, members of Northamptonshire Sport undertook Trans Inclusion in Sport and Physical Activity Awareness training delivered by Gendered Intelligence.

Tackling inequality lies at the heart of our aims towards an active Northamptonshire and we're working with the sport and physical activity sector to help it become ever more inclusive, so that more people from all backgrounds can enjoy sport and exercise.

We're working with a wide range of organisations, including young trans groups but are always looking to work with other organisations that are looking for help or support within the topic of trans inclusion.

We recognise there's an ongoing discussion around trans inclusion in competitive sport, but this is separate to the issue of participation and exercise, which is our primary focus.

Gendered Intelligence

Gendered Intelligence (GI) is a trans-led charity working across the UK. We were originally a Community Interest Company, established in 2008.

Our mission is to increase understandings of gender diversity.

Our vision is of a world where people are no longer constrained by narrow perceptions and expectations of gender, and where diverse gender expressions are visible and valued.

We work with the trans community and those who impact on trans lives; we particularly specialise in supporting young trans people aged 8-25.
