Physical Activity and Lifestyle Toolkit

A toolkit providing support and guidance on how to have healthy conversations with patients about being more active. It also includes the Moving Medicine resources.

This toolkit has been designed by the Royal College of GP's in partnership with Sport England, to be used by primary care professionals in the UK. Any health professional concerned about their own activity levels may find the toolkit useful. The toolkit is designed to have something for all clinicians.

The Physical Activity and Lifestyle Toolkit includes Moving Medicine which helps healthcare professionals advise patients on how physical activity can help to manage their conditions, prevent disease and aid recovery. It provides everything you need to have 1-minute, 5-minute and longer conversations with patients about being physically active. The tool focuses on helping to address the most common long-term health conditions affecting the population, such as cancer, depression, musculoskeletal pain and type 2 diabetes.

Moving Medicine is a key component of the Moving Healthcare Professionals Programme, which is designed to support healthcare professionals embed physical activity into their approach to treating patients for key conditions in line with existing National Institute for Health Care Excellence guidance.
