5 Northamptonshire Athletes to support this Paralympic Games

We are delighted that there will be 5 athletes from Northamptonshire competing at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. Find out more about them, when they'll be competing and how you can get involved in their sports as well as others below.

Dermot Bailey from Kettering is making his Paralympic debut competing in the wheelchair tennis singles event which takes place from Friday 27th August until Saturday 4th September. Ellie Robinson of Northampton Swimming Club (NSC) will be defending her S6 50M Butterfly title that she won Gold in at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. The heats for this are 1:50 – 1:57am on Monday 30th August and finals from 9am that day as they are for all the events. Ellie is also competing in the S6 50M Freestyle which takes place on Wednesday 25th August (heats 2:33 – 2:40am).

Maisie Summers – Newton will be competing in the 3 events she won medals in at the World Para – Swimming Championships in London. The S6 200M Individual Medley in which she won Gold takes place on Thursday 26th August with the heats between 1:37 – 1:49am. On Saturday 28th August Maisie will be in the SB6 100M Breaststroke (heats 1:07 – 1:16am) which she is the World Silver medallist and on Thursday 2nd September her last event is the S6 400M Freestyle (heats 1:16 – 1:32am).

William Perry will also be making his Paralympic debut having only recently gained his first experience of international events when he competed in the European Para Swimming Championships held in Madeira earlier this year. William will be competing in the S6 200M Individual Medley (Thursday 26th August 1:26 – 1:37am), SB6 100M Breaststroke (Saturday 26th August 1:00 – 1:07am) and S6 100M Freestyle (Wednesday 1st September 1:16 – 1:26am).

Zara Mullooly competes in the S10 50M, 100M and 400M Freestyle events having broken the British Record in all 3 at the 2019 World Championships in London. These times won her a Silver medal in the 50M and Bronze in the 400M events. The 50M is on Wednesday 25th August (2:48 – 2:56am), 100M Saturday 28th August (1:25 – 1:35am) and 400M Wednesday 1st September (1:39 – 1:54am).
