Reasons to be cheerful - Northamptonshire Sport has plenty

There's plenty to feel positive about for Northamptonshire Sport. The local charity has recently moved into their new offices at the historical Delapré Abbey
The Abbey is a popular attraction for both residents and out-of-county visitors. Steeped in 900 years of history Delapré Abbey is also a wedding venue and home to an award-winning restaurant. But for Northamptonshire Sport, it's the 500 acres of open parkland surrounding that is most appealing. It's the natural choice of location when the mission is - to help the people of Northamptonshire become 'more active, more often". Where better to be based than amongst green open space, filled with opportunities to walk, relax, run, jog or cycle.
The office move comes shortly after Northamptonshire Sport achieved charity status in October 2020. Previously, the organisation was hosted by Northamptonshire County Council. Charity status means Northamptonshire Sport can operate independently, whilst maintaining essential relationships with local government partners, Sport England and Public Health. Opportunities to work with the private sector to raise funds and develop services are now also possible.
The positivity continues as pandemic restrictions remain lifted for sports and outdoor activities. This means that the Northamptonshire Sport team is able to return to deliver their programmes in person, not just online.
During the pandemic restrictions, digital tools were incredibly useful for the team. They ensured that programme delivery continued. But for some groups of people, in-person interaction is important in helping them to stay active. This is particularly true for those facing social, cultural, health or financial barriers.
Northamptonshire Sport is delighted to be back working in the community and to be in their new home! The team assure us that there's plenty more positivity to come too. Just watch this space.
