Mick George Sports Award in partnership with Northamptonshire Sport.

We are delighted to announce the successful applicants for the first phase of the Mick George Sports Award in partnership with Northamptonshire Sport.

Corby Gymnastics Academy – To purchase replacement FIG Approved rails for Asymmetrical Bars.

Kettering Cricket Club – To contribute towards the purchase of pitch covers. Funding provided alongside the ECB.

Kettering Hockey Club – To purchase pitch dividers that will enable the juniors to play on much smaller, yet bounded pitches. As England Hockey's Club of the Year they have seen a growth in playing numbers.

Kettering Swimming Club – To provide additional starting blocks allowing more members to train of high level competition blocks.

Northampton Mencap - To purchase and install a divider net in an existing hall – allowing concurrent sports activities and arts and crafts for our members at social club meetings

Priors Hall Golf Club – To help improve its practice facilities at the golf course for its members and the general public

Thrapston Town FC – To provide funding for refurbishments to changing rooms, new function room and additional equipment for the club.

Touche Fencing – To purchase additional scoring units set. These are essential for any competition matches. They will be used to support both Wheelchair Fencers and Able Bodied Fencers within the sport.

Matthew Peleszok from Northamptonshire Sport said 'We are delighted to have worked alongside Mick George to grant this funding to a range of organisations across Northamptonshire. We are confident that the money allocated will provide new or improved opportunities for people become physically active and enjoy the settings they are based within'

Paul Lockyer from Northampton Mencap said 'This grant means so much to Northampton Mencap and our mission to enhance and improve significantly the wellbeing of people with learning disability in Northampton.

Upgrading our facilities to allow more sports and activities in a safe and inclusive way will go a huge way to encourage this community to be more active, improve health, develop stronger friendships and have as much fun as possible at the same time.'
