junior parkruns are a success across the county.

Organised entirely by volunteers, the events are great ways for children and adults to get active physically and mentally. Across the two events over 150 young children regularly take part supported by over 50 volunteers. Children can be supported around the course by sibling, parents, grandparents or they can be allowed to run alone under the careful eye of the volunteer marshals.
Daventry junior parkrun has been going just under 3 years and is well established locally. Desborough Green Space Junior parkrun only started in April but is becoming an integral part of the local community.
To register for either junior parkrun, visit here and print out your child's barcode on the day. Every child must be registered to receive an official time and to ensure emergency contact details are available.

What do the kids and families say about junior parkrun?
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved today. He had a great time and hasn't stopped talking about his first parkrun and all the high 5's! - Chris
Excited for park run this morning! Finished the whole course for the first time today. Thanks for all the encouragement from all the volunteers. - Deborah
Thank you for today. I was pleased that our little man finished it. He was only 4 a couple of weeks ago but got round it with the help of the volunteers, claps at the finish and some cuddles! My daughter tried very hard too. I wasn't sure she would enjoy it but she cracked on and I'm sure we will be back x - Kate P
I love running junior parkrun with my friends. We also get to play on the Skate park afterwards and learn new tricks – Daisy
What do the volunteers say about junior parkrun?
I have achieved a whole new group of friends and acquaintances as well as a focus for the week - being retired the days can blend into one another without some regular happenings! Again, a reason for getting out of bed is also great for retirees, life needs purpose.
I don't have one particular favourite moment, but I love the high-fives as they go round, hearing the "thank you, marshal" as they go past the posts and those moments when the little ones come over the finish line, beaming all over their face!
I'm happy to do any role but I think my favourite is finish tokens, when I have the chance to congratulate each and every child on their achievement. - Maureen S
As someone who is petrified of running, junior parkrun has helped me become more active myself. Having to get up and walk to the event, then walk to the far end of the course has helped me increase both my physical and mental wellbeing. Allowing me the opportunity to get up early on a Sunday to encourage the youngsters run around the course helps make my weekends more enjoyable. - Amanda
