Satellite Clubs relaunched across Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire Sport are welcoming expressions of interest in running Satellite Clubs across the county.
New Satellite Clubs should have a focus on young people aged 14-19 and fill gaps in sport and physical activity provision to enable young people to gain positive experiences within the club.
Satellite clubs are run by established sports clubs or Physical Activity providers who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to local places where young people already meet. Satellite clubs help to create a link between school sport and community sport, encouraging a gradual transition. Identifying local needs determines the requirement for a satellite club as well as the type of sport.
Therefore, to develop a high quality, sustainable satellite club network, in the first instance we are working closely with schools to identify a fundamental need/demand for sport and in turn we will aim to match this with supply from a local community club.
Previously we have funded projects in a range of sports and physical activity from hockey, badminton, self defence classes through to gym based sessions. Two Northamptonshire based clubs have won East Midlands Satellite Clubs of the year through our support.
Focus groups for new projects include female participation, disabled young people and young people from lower socio – economic groups, where additional funds will be made available to support these projects.
Funding for new clubs can be utilised for Equipment, Venue Hire, Coaching, Taster-sessions, and Training for leaders / coaches involved in the Satellite club, Marketing and Kit.
