New Activities Starting in Blisworth to Help the Community Get Active.

Northamptonshire Sport and South Northamptonshire Council have been working together to provide some gentle activities in Blisworth for people who would like to get active.

Walking Football

If you thought your football career was over, think again! Walking Football is a slower paced version of the game, aimed at the over 50s. The slower pace doesn't detract from the competition though – it's much more than a stroll in the park!

Walking Football will start in Blisworth on Tuesday 5th March at 10:45am – 12noon. Meeting at Blisworth FC, the sessions will be free for the first month and just £2 thereafter which also includes a free tea or coffee after the session.

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is an enhancement of walking by using specially designed walking poles to provide a gentle but effective way to work the whole body.

The Benefits of Nordic Walking means that the upper body and leg muscles are used more efficiently to burn more calories, lose weight, improve muscle tone and increase energy levels while reducing pressure on knees and joins.

Nordic Walking is a very accessible activity that can be shared by people of different ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels. It's an ideal activity for people who haven't exercised for a while or who dislike traditional sports or gym activities.

Nordic Walking Northampton will be running an Introduction to Nordic Walking session on Thursday 28th March, meeting at Blisworth Village Hall car park at 1:30pm. The session will cost £5 and will teach you the basics of Nordic Walking so you can decide if it's for you.

Let's Get Moving!

New Let's Get Moving! classes are chair based strength and balance exercise classes to help prevent falls and are aimed at the older age group.

The classes are ideal for anyone who hasn't exercised for a long while, those who are recovering from illness or anyone who just wants to become more active.

All classes can be done seated, standing with support or fully standing, all at your own pace. No competition – just a friendly, social group aiming to get moving while having fun!

The sessions take place every Wednesday at 10:00am – 11:00am at Blisworth Baptist Church and cost £4.50 per person.
