National Curriculum Drowning Prevention Summit for Teachers

Northamptonshire Sport and Northants Fire and Rescue are hosting a summit to help schools understand this compulsory part of the KS 2 curriculum. The day will involve a mixture of guest speakers and workshops from various organisations including RLSS UK, University of Northampton, RNLI and the Northamptonshire Emergency Planning Team. A range of topics will be covered during the day including the hidden dangers of open water, SAFE code and safe rescues to the National Curriculum requirements and floods. We will also have a speaker from a community that has lost someone to drowning and will be talking about the impact of such an event.
