Back to Hockey Offers a Different Way to Help Keep to Your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions!

If your New Year's resolution is to get fit, and lose weight but you don't want to join a gym, or go running then 'Back to Hockey' may be the answer for you! Sessions are open to any ability whether you want to get back into the sport, or play it for the first time. They are all about having fun, but you can get fit too as can burn up to 450 calories per session (netfit.co.uk).

Northampton Saints 'Back to Hockey' sessions restart this weekend, and are open to anyone aged 16+. They are held on Saturday's 9 - 10:30am and Sunday's 9:30 – 11am on the Astro turf pitch at Moulton College (gate 3 Holcot Centre), Pitsford Road, Northampton, NN3 7SX. The sessions cost just £2 per week.

Players are recommended to wear comfortable sports clothing, training, and bring a waterproof jacket just in case it rains. The club will provide sticks, but if you have your own then you are more than welcome to bring it and taking a soft drink or bottle of water is recommended as well. Shin pads and a gum shield are not essential to begin with, but again you can bring them if you have them.

For more information about these sessions and how to register for them go to the Northampton Saint's website, and email Andrewdale1971@gmail.com with any other questions you may have.

If these sessions are too far away for you to travel to then other clubs around the county will also be running 'Back to Hockey' programmes during the year. You can find your nearest club and opportunity on the England Hockey website.
