Corby parkrun started at West Glebe in September 2013 attracting 126 runners on our inaugural run. Nearly 4 years later the run has gone from strength to strength with a current attendance record of 182. However, it's not all about the numbers, Corby parkrun has changed peoples lives.. We've developed a running community that is supportive and motivating to all, that's the parkrun ethos and we see this week in week out at Corby.
We've raised over £3000.00 to purchase a life saving defibrillator for West Glebe park users, something we hope that will never be used but our gift to all groups that use the park and pavilion.
Now we regularly attract 130/140 runners and for our 200th run we hope to break the 200 barrier for the 1st time #200For200.
We have a great relationship with Liz and the team at West Glebe Pavilion, Anna and Catherine have been brilliant, the coffee hatch is always a place to chat before and after the run.
I'm sure that Corby parkrun will continue to grow underpinned with the support our volunteers, the team at West Glebe Pavilion and the hundreds of parkruners across the come to West Glebe every week.
So join us this Saturday 12th August for a 9.00am run - You'll need to register beforehand http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ and print off your barcode. Then all you need to do is come along, it's absolutely free :), oh and i forgot, there' cake!!
Northamptonshire Sport support the Jog Northants programme is a countywide initiative aimed at helping beginners start jogging.
We are proud to offer over 50 jogging groups throughout Northamptonshire to help those who are new to running, or have not exercised in a long time.
All the groups start with a mixture of walking and jogging and are a great way to get fit without having to spend a lot of money. All the groups are led by qualified and insured leaders who organise the route, meeting place and offer help and guidance to help you achieve your goals.
