There is a new development for the 2016/17 season in that all youth national teams will compete at the European Championships as Great Britain. The final selection for Great Britain Youth Teams will be in 2017, with the exact date to be confirmed closer to the day.

Basketball England's Technical & Performance Manager, Vladan Dragosavac commented "Congratulations to all players and their coaches on selection for England National programmes 2016/17. The Regional Development Tournament was great opportunity for all to enjoy basketball and perform to their best.

With the Home Nations all coming together to compete as Great Britain from 1 October 2016 Basketball England's aim is to have as many players & staff as possible involved in the Great Britain teams.

The camp in December will help us to select 16 players for U18/U16 England National programme who will be considered for the Great Britain U18/U16 programmes and European Championships in 2017. The National Development Programmes for U17 and U15 players will continue to operate as the England programme and support player's development for international level. This is also a great day for the local clubs which have nurtured local talent and helped them to progress and represent their region and to then achieve England squad selection".
