British Cycling Seeks Para – Cycling Stars of the Future

British Cycling are running a project entitled #Track2Tokyo which is a nationwide search for the next generation of Paralympic track and road cyclists.
As part of this project they are running 2 events across the weekends of the 2nd - 3rd July and the 29th- 30th October 2016 at Derby Arena. This initial phase of talent assessments are an opportunity for individuals to demonstrate their potential to become part of the Great Britain Para‐Cycling Team competing at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
This great opportunity is open to both male and female athletes who fall in to one of the four following impairment categories which are eligible for para – cycling:
Neurological - Impairments with either central or peripheral damage that are either congenital or acquired. For example; Athetosis, ataxia, dystonia and mixed – spasticity/athetosis/ataxia/dystonia, peripheral nerve damage, impaired muscle power
Locomotor - Including amputations, limb deficiency & limb length difference, impaired muscle power, impaired passive joint range of motion, multiple impairments that lead to a permanent and verifiable activity limitation
Spinal cord lesions - Complete or incomplete
If you meet any of the criteria above, are British and a competent cyclist who is driven to succeed then British Cycling would like to hear from you! Please complete the expression of interest form and return to Paracycling@britishcycling.org.uk indicating which weekend is your preferred option for attendance. They will then be in touch via email with applicants following the closing dates to invite you to attend a talent ID assessment date.
