Day 2 – Wednesday 24th February 2016

Northampton School for Girls and Northampton School for Boys returned for their 3rd consecutive year to compete in the Level 3 Winter School Games Year 7 Basketball Competition, both trying to retain their county title.

There was some controversy surrounding the competition with 6 of the 10 teams being ineligible to record points for their partnership or even collect medals – proudly I can say Northampton fielded to very eligible teams and boy did they do the Partnership and their own schools very proud. The preparation from the players and staff at these schools is seconded to none and nothing is left to chance!

NSG and NSB were both unbeaten in all their games resulting in them taking home once again the County Champions titles and well deserved it was!

Secondary Competitions

1st Northampton School for Girls (Yr 7 Girls)

1st Northampton School for Boys (Yr 7 Boys)

The Year 7/8/9 Girls and Boys Badminton competition followed the Basketball competition. With a full complement of teams we were looking to improve on last year's performances. The players played really well with many matches very tight to call. The players did their schools very proud with their performances in the competition

7th Northampton Academy (Yr 7/8/9 Boys)

3rd Northampton Academy (Yr 7/8/9 Boys)

Day 3 – Thursday 25th February 2016

A full day of competition for Primary, Secondary and Special Schools taking part in Boccia, New Age Kurling, Sitting Volleyball, Volleyball and Badminton. The atmosphere in the Sportshall today was nothing short of amazing...the enjoyment and excitement being had by all the competitors was overwhelming.

We were privileged to also welcome Rob Richardson to the School Games today. Rob competed at London 2012 in the GB Sitting Volleyball Team – he spent time today joining in practice and warm up sessions and had loads of photos with the competitors.

Day 4 – Friday 26th February 2016

The final day of the 2016 Level 3 Winter School Games was a true spectacle with Yr 7 and 9 Futsal competitions and Yr 7/8 and 10/11 Rowing Competitions. It is always great to end on a high and we certainly did this today. The power and effort put in by the Rowers was incredible and very admirable and the tackles and challenges present to our Futsal opponents showed we were there to win.

Secondary Competitions

3rd Malcolm Arnold Academy A (Yr 7/8 Girls – Rowing)

DSQ Malcolm Arnold Academy B (Yr 7/8 Girls – Rowing)

1st Northampton School for Boys (Yr 7/8 Boys – Rowing)

The students who presented Northampton SSP were a true credit to themselves and their schools. There behaviour was impeccable and it was pleasure to have them at the event.

The points individual schools accumulated for Northampton SSP will be taken forward to the Level 3 Summer School Games on Thursday 7th July 2016 where a Partnership will be crown School Games 2016 Champions – could this be us?!
