Kingsthorpe Cluster update...Term 3

Kingsthorpe College students put together a really exciting multi-sport festival for year 4 pupils in our cluster. The leaders decided to put the focus on getting as many children as possible having fun while taking part in physical activity. The primary schools were encouraged to bring their less active kids, or the ones that don't necessarily get the chance to represent their school in sports competitions very often. The leaders ran sessions in benchball, football and teambuilding/races. We also got in local cheerleading coach, Amy Thomason to run a session. The children had a great afternoon and all left with rosy cheeks and smiles! Goal achieved I would say!
Gymnastics is a sport which many primary school teachers in our cluster have asked for extra guidance. I have been working closely with staff to support them by offering advice and running some lessons to up-skill teachers. The feedback has been very positive from all staff.
In addition, I ran a few practice sessions with the cluster gymnastics teams in preparation for the level 2 Gymnastics competitions. All schools did brilliantly in the competitions, but I have to give a special shout out to The Good Shepherd Year 1/2 team that got 1st place and is going forward to represent Northampton in the Level 3 School Games. Good luck!
We have lots of exciting plans for next term including a year 3 multi-sport festival ran by our brand new 'Young Leader Development Squad' and a Cluster Cross Country Competition involving hundreds of pupils from our cluster.
