FREE Women & Girls Sport and Activity Day

On Sunday 13th March 2016 Northampton School Sport Partnership, Northampton Academy and Northampton Leisure Trust are hosting a Women & Girls Community Activity Day. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of local sport and physical activities providing opportunities for women and girls and to also link into International Women's week.

Registration takes place from 10.15am at Northampton Academy and the activities start at 11am after a welcome and introduction. Sports and activities on offer throughout the day are provided by local clubs and organisations. Activities include Cricket, Zumba, Circuit Training, Pilates, Football, Netball, Nordic Walking, Step, Archery and Basketball. There is also a workshop on healthy eating and a series of stalls advertising local opportunities.

Sport England's "This Girl Can" campaign has been hugely successful in inspiring women and girls to take up more sport and physical activity. It is hoped that this event, which follows International Women's Day on March 8th, will inspire more women and girls from Northampton to try new sports and activities.

Natalie Lawrence, School Sport Manager for the Northampton School Sport Partnership said:

"It is fantastic to be able to host a free event such as this with such a broad variety of activities on offer. Mum's can bring their daughters, sisters, nieces and aunties and have a fun family day out."
