Ladies Netfit to launch in Daventry
Posted: Tue, 26 Jan 2016 15:06
Did you enjoy playing netball at school? Would you like to start playing again AND get fit at the same time? Then come and join the brand new 'Daventry Netfit' sessions on Tuesdays at Daventry Leisure Centre, 7 – 8 pm.
The Netfit sessions will focus on a circuit training approach to learning and practising fundamental netball skills while helping ladies improve their fitness in a fun and socialable environment. For those that want to play the game of netball too, there will be a game at the end of each session where ladies can learn basic game play.
The project has been launched following a successful bid from #NorthantsGirlsCan Fund through Northamptonshire Sport, which aims to support groups, organisations and clubs who wish to engage and provide regular and sustained sport and physical activity opportunities for women aged 25 years and above.
The sessions are run by a fully qualified and experienced coach, Cath Kitchen. Cath is an ex international player who coached the English and British Universities Teams for 25 years. She also supports the running of the Daventry league and has run a busy and successful 'Back to Netball' session in Daventry over the past 3 years.
Netball coach Cath Kitchen said, "I have been involved in the game of netball as a player, coach and umpire for over 40 years and am passionate about the game. I'm very excited by the new Netfit sessions and hope that it will encourage women to come back and play the game they loved at school – we have all played netball! It is for women aged 25 years and older, all fitness levels, all shapes and sizes – everyone is welcome!"
Mel Bland, Everyone Active Community Sports Engagement Manager said 'I really want to encourage more women to engage in more sport and activity, and netball is the ideal to kick start that feel good factor. It is great we are working with the Daventry Netball League and Cath'.
Weekly sessions cost just £1 and start on Tuesday 23rd February, from 7-8pm at Daventry Leisure Centre. For more information or to book, please telephone 01327 871144 or email email@example.com
