On Monday 14th December, Year 7 students from secondary schools around the South Northants and Daventry districts attended the School Games Year 7 Futsal competitions at Moulton College.
The teams from Moulton, CCS, Guilsborough, Sponne and EWS competed in separate boys and girls competitions with the winning team in each competition progressing forward to the School Games Level 3 County Finals in Kettering in February 2016.
Both competitions saw the teams compete in round robins and the matches were officated by Simon Trusler of Sponne School and Ed Reeves from the School Sport Partnership.
In the girl's competition, Moulton showed early promise recording two 3-0 victories over Sponne and Guilsborough but were defeated by a CCS side who took a 1-0 victory against the previosuly unbeaten side. A strong team defensive effort ensured that they ended the afternoon School Games Level 2 Girls Champions for 2015/16.
The boy's competition was equally as close. After nine rounds of matches, the final group game between CCS and Moulton would decide which team would go forward to represent the districts at the next round. A close game was played out with goals at each end but it was Moulton who progressed with a 3-2 victory to ensure they finished the afternoon top of the group with four wins from four.
The Partnership would like to thank all students and staff who attended the event for theit efforts and also offer its congratulations to both CCS and Moulton, who will now be invited to progress to the School Games Level 3 County Futsal Finals for the Year 7 Girls and Boys competitions respectively. Special thanks are also reserved for Simon Trusler and Ed Reeves for officiating over the matches throughout the competition.
