Northamptonshire prepares for Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour

With just over two weeks to go until the East Midlands' leg of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Trophy Tour, Northamptonshire is readying itself for a number of events that will celebrate rugby's biggest year.

The trophy's first visit to the county will be on Monday 10th August, when Moulton College, a Rugby World Cup 2015 Team Base, are hosting a private event for local rugby clubs and their own Rugby Academy students.

On Tuesday 18th August, the Webb Ellis Trophy will return to visit 4 events held at venues across the region; Althorp House, Franklins Gardens (Northampton Saints RFC), Rushden & Higham RFC and Goldington Road (Bedford Blues RFC).

A short overview of each event can be found below:

Althorp House

Althorp will host an Under 8's Tag Rugby tournament in the grounds of the estate, with teams from 8 local rugby clubs competing.

Rushden & Higham RFC

Rushden & Higham Rugby club will be hosting a Mini Festival to celebrate the arrival of the Rugby World Cup Trophy in the town of Rushden. With lots of fun activities for all the family and a real spectacle of Youth Rugby come and see what rugby has to offer in your local community Rugby Club. The Mini Rugby Festival will kick off at 2pm leading up to the arrival of the Trophy at 5pm.

Franklins Gardens - Northampton Saints RFC

The Webb Ellis Cup will be on display to all supporters of the game in Northampton and the local area. First XV players from the Premiership club will also be in attendance.

Goldington Road - Bedford Blues RFC

Bedford Blues welcome the local community down to Goldington Road to have their photo taken with the trophy.

(Note for all Public events: At times, there may be a high demand for pictures with the Trophy. Please note that the Event Organiser reserves the right to close the queue before the times advertised, or to only allow group pictures with the Trophy. Please ensure that you arrive early to avoid disappointment).

The journey throughout the UK and Ireland aims to engage fans and give them the opportunity to build unforgettable memories as part of their own Rugby World Cup 2015 story.
