Quicksticks truimph for Clipston

On Thursday 23rd April, nine teams from six primary schools took part in the Daventry South Cluster Year 3/4 Quicksticks Festival at Moulton College to earn a place at the South Northants and Daventry District Finals on Wednesday 10th June.

The teams, from Boughton, Brixworth, Overstone, Sywell, Great Creaton and Clipston Primary Schools, undertook 8 minute matches across 2 pools, managed and officiated by Sports Leaders from Moulton School and Science College to earn their places in the competition semi-finals.

Played under the blazing sun, each team demonstrated each of the six School Games Values of teamwork, passion, respect, determination, self-belief and honesty as they contested each match. At the end of the pool stage, the teams of Brixworth, Overstone, Clipston and Great Creaton progressed to the semi finals.

With Clipston edging past Great Creaton and Overstone overcoming a resilient Brixworth side, the final was looking like being a close encounter between the sides. After a hard fought match, Clipston claimed the South Cluster trophy and medals with a 2-0 victory.

Well done to all teams who competed during the evening and many thanks to all teachers, parents and carers who supported the children throughout the evening. Special thanks are also reserved for Mr Mitchell and the Sports Leaders from Moulton School for their amazing support during the evening.
