Northants Para–Swimmers Medal Success in Glasgow

Northamptonshire Para–Swimmers Eleanor Robinson and Maisie Summers–Newton recently enjoyed success at the British International meeting held in Glasgow.
Robinson (pictured) aged 13 from Northampton Swimming Club had an exceptionally good time of it winning a Gold Medal in the Youth Championship 50M Butterfly and Silver in the Seniors A Final for the same event. In the process of doing that she beat the British Record for the S6 Category twice in the same day lowering her time achieved in the heats of 39.67 to 39.27. She also won Silver in the Youth 200M Individual Medley, 400M Freestyle and Bronze in the 50M Freestyle.
Summers–Newton aged 12 from Wellingborough Swimming Club won the 50M Butterfly Seniors B Final, came 7th in the 50M Freestyle C Final, and 9th in the 100M Backstroke C Final. Her performance in the 50M Butterfly earned her a Bronze medal in the Youth Championship.
Robinson's next event will be the Berlin Open from the 16th–19th April at which she'll be competing for the British team for the first time having been selected in their Podium Potential squad in 2014.
Both Eleanor and Maisie were first discovered at a Para–Swimming talent identification event ran in partnership between Northamptonshire Sport and the Amateur Swimming Association in 2012 as part of their Olympic/Paralympic legacy work.
