Posted: Thu, 29 Jan 2015 10:20
Youth Activators is an exciting three year project that delivers free, informal sporting sessions in a range of local community settings for young people aged 14 -19. The project, running in South Northamptonshire uses sport to engage with young people and to challenge anti-social behaviour in targeted areas.
The project also assists young people and community volunteers - youth leaders, coaches and sports club members - to gain qualifications and to develop their self-esteem and confidence.
Colin Hull, Sports Development Officer, said "We have organised a number of workshops with Street Games that will start to give volunteers the skills they need to deliver sessions in the community. The workshops are free if people volunteer to support our Youth Activators project and places can be booked through me."
The three Street Games workshops are:
a) Introduction to Doorstep Sport at The Hub, Brackley on Wednesday 4th February 6pm - 9pm
b) Dodgeball Activator at Towcester Centre for Leisure on Saturday 21st February 9.30am-12.30pm
c) Dance Activator at Towcester Centre for Leisure on Saturday 21st March 10am - 1pm
In addition, SK8safe - the number 1 name in skate park coaching -are delivering a level 1 Community Skate Park Ambassadors Award at the Vision café, Towcester Community Centre on Saturday 18th April 10am – 5pm.
