Campion do the double at Year 7 Sportshall Athletics while Magdalen dominate KS3/4 Badminton

Over the course of January, secondary schools across South Northants and Daventry have come out in force to earn their right to compete in the Badminton and Sportshall Athletics County Finals at the Winter School Games next month.
Campion do the double!
On Thursday 22nd February at Daventry Leisure Centre, eight Year 7 team competed in track and field events to earn points for their schools. Teams from Sponne, CCS, Guilsborough, Moulton, DSLV, Parker E-ACT, Campion and EWS all competed in separate Boys and Girls competitions to earn their place at the County Finals at Kettering Arena on 24th February.
After some close-run races and hard-fought field events, it was the reigning county champions from Campion who emerged victorious ahead of Sponne in both competitions. Both schools will now progress to the next round.
Mighty Magdalen do the treble!
Throughout January, four badminton competitions have taken place at Sponne School to determine the KS3 and 4 Boys and Girls Badminton entries for South Northants and Daventry into the Centre Parcs Badminton Finals next month.
In the KS3 competition, Magdalen emerged top of their pools in both the Boys and Girls competition with Moulton (KS3 Girls) and CCS (KS3 Boys) also topping their pool to take their places at next round of competition.
In the KS4 Boys competition, Sponne School and CCS dominated their pool groups to set up a close competition final. After two singles and two doubles matches, the result of the competition rested on the result of the final doubles match. Heading into the latter point of the game, it was Sponne who took the victory to claim a 3-2 Final victory. Both teams however, progress to the next round at Kettering Arena.
In the KS4 Girls competition, teams from CCS, Magdalen, EWS, Sponne and DSLV compete in a round-robin to determine the 2 teams who would progress to represent the Partnership in the County Finals. After 10 fixtures, Magdalen took 1st place with Sponne taking 2nd.
