Beginners Jogging Group in Corby Gets Over 100 People Running.

A jogging group designed to help adults new to running last night attracted over 100 people to Corby Athletics club to kick start their new year's resolutions.

The group, in its 3rd year of helping beginners learn to jog, first started in January 2013 when 38 beginners turned out. In January 2014, 66 new runners came along, and last night a staggering 100 people came along to join the beginners jogging group.

The entire group had never ran before and the qualified and experienced leaders, Tracey Shepherd, Corinne Wilson and Matt Robey, took them through a gradual progression plan. After 12 weeks the group will be well on their way to achieving 5km distance.

The group is completely free of charge and is all part of Jog Northants, Northamptonshire Sport's recreational running programme. The group is delivered by Jog Northants leaders, working with Corby Athletics Club to try and encourage more people to take up running on a regular basis. The group meet every Tuesday at 6:30pm at Corby AC.

Tracey Shepherd, volunteer group leader, said "We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned out last night, all keen to get fit and healthy through running. It is an absolute pleasure to be able to work with beginner runners and help them reach their goals."
