Canoe Trail are a multi award winning watersports and adventure business based in Bedford. We provide canoes, kayaks, SUP’s, bushcraft, archery and other activities, as well as running youth programmes for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Princes Trust and YMCA. We were voted Top 52 things to do in the world by Lonely Planet and also No.3 place to Stand Up Paddle Board in the UK by Red Bull Magazine. We run expeditions to Scotland, Northumberland, the Yukon and Ontario, Canada. We are a friendly, dynamic team who love sharing their passion for the outdoors.

Bookings and Admin Assistant

Part Time (flexible working window)

Estimated 15 -20 hours per week

Canoe Trail is looking for an experienced administrator to help with customer bookings, scheduling and other office tasks. An interest in the outdoors would be an advantageous but not essential. It is crucial to have a good telephone manner and computer skills. Strong organisational skills and an ability to promote the business to new and existing customers is essential. The hours are flexible to some extent Monday to Friday and of course we are busiest in the school holidays for tourism bookings.

Seasonal Outdoor Instructors

Full Time (flexible working window) includes weekends

Season from April to October

We are looking for hard working instructors to join our team. Ideally staff will hold some national governing body qualifications in paddling (canoeing and kayaking) and potentially other qualifications such as Mountain Leader, Archery or similar. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in the outdoors with relevant experience in paddling, hiking and expeditions or bushcraft activities.

Potentially for the right candidate we are able to help with instructor training and mentoring. A first aid certificate and DBS will be required (again we may be able to help with this).

A clean driving licence and ability to tow trailers is essential as our business is mobile operating between different bases.

Seasonal and Freelance Instructors

As above we are looking for experienced and/or qualified instructors to work on a freelance basis. Typically we provide blocks of work, in single days, weekends and block weeks.
