What happens if the in-person event is unable to run due to Covid-19? In the event, an in-person race cannot take place, all registered participants will automatically be transferred to the rescheduled event. If we can not proceed due to Covid-19, you will have lots of options including a full refund of your entry fee (minus fees) There will be specific windows where you will be able to do this.
What can i do if i don't feel ready to participate but still would like to collect medals? If you are booked onto the race, you can run that race virtually instead. Just head over to Virtual 5K Offer and read terms and conditions are how to claim your medal.
What additional safety measures are being put in place to protect participants?We are developing a number of different and flexible event plans to suit a range of possible scenarios, including…
- Reducing the number of entries
- Social distancing
- Changes to the start time of events to allow for small and scheduled wave starts.
- Medal station, rather than being handed your medal at the finish line
- Hand sanitiser stations
- Possible changes to the route/s
- Limiting the number of spectators
- Reducing or removing 'contact points' at the event and sending out our Race Packs
How do i enter? We aren't accepting any new entries currently. We already have the majority of the Whole Race Series entrants from 2020. We want to deliver the first race at Salcey Forest on the 19th May initially with these participants so we can make sure we can maintain social distancing and get through the staggered starts before opening up to more runners. This will be reviewed after the 19th May and we hope to open up bookings after this date. This will be announced via our social media and on this website.
How do i qualify for UKA Affiliated Entry? To qualify for UKA Affiliated entry, your running club must be recognised via the UKA Governing Body.
Can i enter on the day? Usually yes if there are spaces available. But unfortunately this isn't something we are offering at this stage. This may change later on in the Series when restrictions and our Covid-19 responsibilities lift.
What is the minimum age to race? As the Northants 5K Race Series is licensed by UK Athletics all entrants must be 11 years of age or older.
Can i race with a pushchair or with my dog? Due to the terrain and for the safety of all our other runners, no pushchairs / running buggies are permitted. Whilst we welcome well behaved dogs to be with spectators at most venues, we do not allow runners to run with their dogs on the course.
Can i give my race number to someone else to run? Your running number is unique to you and enable our safety team to access the personal details you have supplied to us quickly if needed on the day. UK Athletics rules state: Athletes who receive transferred numbers without permission will be disqualified from the race. For individual races this is possible, but you need to let the Race Organiser know at least 36 hours in advance so the race paperwork can be updated.
When will i receive my Race Number / T Shirt etc..? This year (2021) Race Packs will be sent out to you. Please ensure you have the correct address on Race Space by 4th May as this is when we will be starting to pack your Race Packs.
What if i haven't received my Race Pack? All race packs will be posted prior to the event. There will be no on-the-day registration.Let us know if your pack has not arrived the week before the event and we will arrange a replacement bib for you. This can be collected on Race Day at the Red Nsport Gazebo
What happens if i lose my bib number? If you have entered the Whole Race Series, your bib number will be for all 5 races, so please do try to take care of it. If you do lose it or if it becomes damaged please visit the Red NSport gazebo on Race Day to collect your replacement.
Do i have to pay for parking? The majority of the venues are at Country Parks so you will have to pay for car parking. Current parking prices can be found on the parks website. It will also be in the Race Briefing you will receive before each race. Parking is often limited as well, so where possible (and if restrictions allow) please do try to car share.
Are there any baggage facilities? There won't be any baggage facilities at any of our venues. Entrants should turn up ready to run
Where do i put my Race Number? Race Numbers are to be secured on the FRONT using safety pins (we will supply) and need to be always visible. Please look after your Race Number if you have entered the Whole Race Series as you will need if for each of the 5 races. Under no circumstances swap your number or give your place to another participant – we need to know all the participants on site for our Covid-19 responsibilities.
How is the race timed? We have chip timing for the first year in 2021. The timing chip is inside the strip on the back of your runner number. You must not damage these or try to remove them from the back of the number otherwise you will not get a finish time. Your time will start when you cross the start line.
What are the prizes? There will a bespoke medal for each finisher (wearing a Race Number) these will be available at the end of the finish funnel – self serve as stated in our Covid Safe Plan. Whole Series winner trophy – Male and Female awarded on completion of Race 5. To be eligible for the Whole Race Series Winners Trophy, you must entered at least 4 of the 5 races.
Is the course accurate? All the course have been measured. UKA guidance for Multi Terrain events does allow for a buffer of 60 metres either side of the 5K measurement. We have used a wheel to measure. GPS watches may give a slightly different measurement.
Is the course signed and marshalled? Yes, there will be plenty of signs. There will be a KM marker at each kilometre. KM Markers will be located on the nearest post/stake to the kilometre mark. There will be Race Marshals at points throughout the course. These marshals will be visible wearing yellow 'high vis' vests.
Can i take part in a wheelchair? Sorry, the multi terrain routes would make these courses unsuitable for wheelchairs.
Will you be supplying refreshments? Participants to bring their own hydration to the event. We won't be supplying water at the end of the race as we have done in previous years.
Will there be first aid stations? Maze Events will be providing our medical support and will be based near event control and on the route. If you feel unwell or pick up an injury, please report to the nearest Race Marshal or member of Northamptonshire Sport staff who will request medical assistance. However, if you feel unwell on the day or you've been ill during the previous week, we recommend that you don't participate in the run.
