About Old Northamptonians Rugby Football Club
Old Northamptonians RFC was founded in 1923 by W.C.C. Cooke, who at that time was Headmaster of Northampton Grammar School. The aim was to give former pupils the opportunity to play rugby upon leaving school.
All players were either pupils or ex-pupils or masters at the school until the club went open in the 70's. We still have very close links with the school, which is now Northampton School for Boys, and many of the current players were educated "over the road".
Since 1923, the club has been very successful and produced many players who have gone on to play for Northampton Saints RFC, and also for England at both senior and schoolboy level, with at least two British Lions, including former RFU President R.B Bob Taylor.
Old Northamptonians RFC run the following teams for players of all ages, genders and abilities:
Seniors: 1st XV, 2nd XV, 3rd XV, 4th XV (Veterans)
Academy: U18 Colts, U17 Colts
Juniors: U16, U15, U14, U13
Minis: U12, U11, U10, U9, U8, U7
Ladies: Ladies 1st XV, U18, U15, U13
