Taking place throughout the day, schools are invited to bring along groups of Year 3/4/5/6 children (max 6 per group)and an accompanying member of staff to take the challenge of completing the country park's orienteering route. As they work their way around the course using the maps provided, the children will search for different Healthy Schools Week markers which will provide them with solutions for their answer sheet.
At the end of the challenge, which lasts approximately 60 minutes, the children will have to solve the Healthy Schools Week Challenge using the clues they have gathered on the course and each receive their own Healthy Schools Week certificate to acknowledge their achievements of the day.
This is a great opportunity provided in partnership with South Northants & Daventry SSP and Brixworth Country Park for schools looking to engage their less active children in physical activity as well as a providing new pupils to the school an opportunity to make new friends through working together to find the clues.
Schools are not limited on the number of groups that attend and this can count towards your School Games Mark applications for this year, particularly those looking to include more B and C team participation. Each group however must have an accompanying member of staff.
Schools are asked to book any of the following time slots at which they would like to undertake the challenge:
10:30am, 11am, 11:30am, 12pm, 12:30pm, 1pm, 1:30pm 2pm, 2:30pm
The maximum groups which can attend the Challenge during each individual time slot is 4 groups and once your bookings have been received, we will confirm your place at the event. Schools are not limited to attending only one session and schools are permitted to bring along multiple groups throughout the day.
Extend your stay.
Schools are very welcome on the day to bring a healthy 'picnic lunch' and enjoy the surroundings of the country park which hosts numerous countryside walks, wonderful scenery, wildlife, play areas and a café.
On completion of your booking you will be provided a risk assessment and participant instructions 1 week before the event.
