Who we are and what we do

One of 43 County Sports Partnerships, Northamptonshire Sport is a partnership of local and national organisations working together to provide opportunities for people to participate in sport, physical activity and recreation in Northamptonshire.

The Northamptonshire Sport Core Team is hosted by Northamptonshire County Council and its activities are funded through Sport England Lottery grant and by local and national partners.

Our work is guided by the Northamptonshire Framework for Physical Activity and Sport

We co-ordinate School Sport and Competition

Sainsburys School Games

We work closely with Primary and Secondary Schools in all aspects of PE and School Sport. A key part of our work is to deliver across The School Games Programme across the county. The School Games encourages participation in sport and competition at all levels in a wide range of sports and projectability, disability sports.

We work closely with Sport England, Sports Coach UK and local organisations to offer a range of services to both coaches and organisations (including schools), who use sports coaches. Support includes: funding for coaching courses; providing high quality sports coaches to schools and local organisations and developing coaches' skills.

We provide advice and training for clubs and individuals working in sport or schools

  • Advice on funding for clubs and individuals
  • Advice to clubs on ensuring they are open and inclusive and safe for all.
  • Advising disabled people on inclusive opportunities.
  • Running courses (such as Safeguarding and First Aid) throughout the county.

Northamptonshire Sport is committed to ensuring the active participation of the whole community by ensuring all individuals have an equal opportunity to take part in sport, recreation and physical activity. Northamptonshire Sport will, where appropriate, work to remove barriers to participation and take positive action to address any inequalities identified in the provision of opportunities.
