Catherine Hickford - WINNER
Catherine started parkrun in 2014. At first she could not run and would be the first to admit she was really unfit and unhealthy. She has slowly built her fitness up and now runs the whole thing. She has lost a staggering 6.5 stones since May 2017 and has run 22 personal bests at Northampton parkrun.
A free, weekly timed 5k walk, jog or run that is delivered at Wicksteed Park every Saturday morning, the Kettering parkrun celebrated its 100th event. Over the last 12 months, 1,700 people have registered the event as their home run and 325 people take part every week. Over 280 people gave volunteered to make the events happen. It is now part of the social prescribing initiatives of local GP surgeries
Tim has been using a wheelchair since developing Arthritis Spondylosis. IN the last year, Tim has taken up the challenge to complete the Great North Run in his day chair to raise funds for Spinal Research UK. When he first started he could not push himself 1 mile but with determination he completed his challenge. Being active has also helped Tim deal with his anxiety, developed since becoming wheelchair bound.
