Women's Sport Week 2016 will take place from Monday 3rd – Sunday 9th October 2016.
The week will celebrate and showcase women's sport at every level, from the grassroots to the elite, and will highlight the incredible contribution that women make to sport.
Building on the momentum from the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio this summer, the collective force behind Women's Sport Week calls on everyone within the sports community and beyond to use this occasion to organise events, generate debate, and show their support to help women and girls reach their full potential through sport.
Women's Sport Week 2016 is about getting more women and girls involved in sport and an opportunity to showcase our female athletes who are at the top of their game. Most of all, it's an opportunity for everyone to get involved and show their support for women's sport.
The week is being led by the charity Women in Sport along with major media partners, sport national governing bodies and sport organisations including Sport England and DCMS.
Women's Sport Week is an opportunity for everybody involved with playing, delivering, leading or working in sport to celebrate, raise awareness and increase the profile of women's sport across the UK.
There are lots of Female Friendly Sports Activities and events taking place next week for you try!
We're getting behind the campaign and would like to raise awareness and promote all the activities taking place across Northamptonshire during the week.
Therefore if you are National Governing Body of Sport, a Sports Club, a Leisure Operator or a Community Group, together we can use #WSW16 to celebrate and raise awareness of women's sport and women playing sport across Northamptonshire.
