Northamptonshire Sport Champions Fund

The Northamptonshire Sport Champions Fund is a bursary scheme designed to support Northamptonshire’s emerging sports stars.  The county's top sporting performers will receive financial support to help them make the most of their talent.

  • You must be competing at a regional level and ideally involved at a national level for example selected for national training squads & national representative competition.
  • You must live /be located and/or train/coach/officiate in Northamptonshire.
    Grants in the first year will be for a minimum of £250 up to £750.
  • Costings must be specifically for sports-based activities including travel expenses to training grounds, personal sports equipment, clothing, specialist coaching (which is in addition to the coaching provided by the athlete’s regular club coaches) and attendance at competitive activities.
  • You must be up to the age of 25 years and up to the age of 35 for athletes with disabilities.

All applications must be made through a sports club, association or professional body, such as the Local or National Governing Bodies of Sport.

Ron Pickering Memorial Fund

Applications are invited for grants from the RON PICKERING MEMORIAL FUND from young athletes who are in education and may need financial help towards training or provision of equipment.

Applicants must be aged 15 and 23 years, medallists from their National Schools AA, AAA U17, & U20 or U23 Championships or in the top six of the appropriate UK ranking lists.

SportsAid

Since 1997, SportsAid has focused on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18, from 50 able-bodied and 25 disability sports. These athletes compete in national squads and these grants, generally worth £500, help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment.

Since 1976, SportsAid has distributed around £20 million and now gives 1,500 grants per year.

Applicants must be identified and nominated by their National Governing Bodies of Sport based on their talent and sporting results.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme

The TASS programme has been created to help hundreds to fulfil their sporting potential by maintaining a sensible balance between academic life and employment whilst training and competing as a performance athlete.

The programme distributes awards to talented athletes that are committed to combining their sport and education. It aims to reduce the drop out of talented athletes from sport and supports and develops the talent of today for sporting success in the future.

The Dickie Bird Foundation

The vision of the Foundation is to assist financially disadvantaged young people under 18 years of age to participate, to the best of their ability, in the sport of their choice irrespective of their social circumstances, culture or ethnicity and to ensure that, in doing so, they improve their chances both inside and outside sport.
