Introduction
Rowing has evolved over centuries from a means of propelling warships to a popular hobby and spectator sport..
Today, 55,000 people in the UK participate in rowing at least once a week. More than 300 British Rowing events and activities take place each year.
It's not all about the racing - recreational rowing is just as popular as competitive rowing.
There are over 520 British Rowing clubs in the UK catering for all ages and abilities at the same time as offering many different types of rowing.
There are also many different types of rowing including; traditional, adaptive (for people with a disability), ocean, indoor, surf and touring.

Coach
British Rowing provides a range of coach education training, so if you would like to be become a Rowing coach, or develop your Rowing qualifications further, visit www.britishrowing.org. You can become an indoor or an outdoor rowing coach with the opportunity to progress from level 1 to level 3. Volunteer
There are many opportunities to volunteer within the sport of rowing. British Rowing also have various volunteering initiatives, such as volunteer development programmes and Volunteer of the year awards. You can find all the details by visiting www.britishrowing.org/volunteering.
