Gymnastics
British Gymnastics (BG) is the UK National Governing Body for the sport of Gymnastics. It is a not for profit organisation dedicated to developing levels and quality of provision across a range of disciplines.
Gymnastics is an accessible and inclusive sport offering opportunities to all ability levels and ethnic groups within a range of controlled learning environments. It promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and is recognised as forming the basis for physical literacy by developing fundamental movement skills. Moreover, gymnastics is an exciting sport to participate in or to watch, with a range of disciplines to suit every aspiration; from Gymnastics for all, team gym, women's and men's artistic gymnastics, trampoline, tumbling and double mini tramp, Gymnastics and movement for people with disabilities, rhythmic, acrobatics, aerobics and cheerleading.
Interest in the sport has never been stronger. Hundreds of thousands of young gymnasts enjoy the sport in the school environment, take part in the recreational sessions offered at many leisure centres, and enjoy membership of British Gymnastics registered clubs that offer a complete development pathway from beginner through to Olympian.
Northamptonshire is very fortunate to have an elite gymnast, Daniel Keatings, as well as a high performance centre for trampolining, home to the Northants Trampoline Gymnastics Academy.
Northamptonshire Sport has an officer based within its core team that supports the regional Gymnastics Development Team.
