The role of the County Association
The Northamptonshire Athletic Association, as the local Governing Body for Athletics, oversees the management of all aspects of Athletics within the County.
In addition to promoting Championships for all affiliated athletes for Cross Country, Track and Field, Road Running and Sportshall Athletics, there is a responsibility to select representative teams for Inter Counties events.
A Management Committee is in place to develop, promote and have an awareness of the needs of affiliated clubs and athletes alike. Generous Grant Aid facilities are in place for the benefit of all clubs, including the purchase of equipment and the development of coaches and officials.
The Association is affiliated to the Midland Counties Athletic Association and subsequently to the AAA of England and has a responsibility to set out clear and precise development plans and budget strategies to ensure that facilities, coaching, schools and clubs maintain a high standard of performance within the Athletics module.
There are also two sub- groups in place, who meet on a regular basis. These are the Endurance Group and Development Group. These groups concentrate on more specific issues related to road running, and the development of all areas of athletics.
