Club Accreditation

The ASA's accreditation scheme is called Swim 21. There are 4 levels to the scheme dependent on the clubs pool time and level of coaching. (Teaching, Skill Development, Competitive Development and Performance).  Modules have recently been streamlined to embrace all aquatic disciplines (Diving, Swimming, Synchro and Waterpolo), and to ensure the outcomes are closely in line with the principles of LTAD.  Clubs achieving Swim 21 automatically meet the standards of Clubmark.

Northampton SC- Teaching, Skill Development & Performance.  

Wellingborough ASC - Skill Development.

What Support does the ASA provide clubs working towards accreditation?

County and Regional Officer support with club visits and workshops.

Does the ASA offer a benefits package?

  • Accredited clubs are prioritised to access funds through school-club projects
  • County and Regional Officer support is available

Child Protection

The ASA has a Child Protection Policy in place and requires all clubs to adopt their own Child Protection policy.  We also ensure that all personnel working with young people have undertaken appropriate Child Protection training.

Is the ASA registered to process CRB checks?

Yes.  CRB checking is done through the clubs and sent back to the ASA for all coaches and volunteers over 18. The ASA pay for the Checks.

What is the ASA recommended player: coach ratio?

1:20 but varies depending on level.
1:12 Adult and child classes, non-swimmers and beginners

Does the ASA have a code of conduct which swimming coaches are expected to sign up to?

Yes a Code of Ethics and a Code of Conduct. Can be viewed on www.britishswimming.org
