Level 2 Sports Leader Award

This award gives people aged 16 and over the skills needed to lead groups in safe sporting and recreational activity. The aim of the award is to produce responsible, motivated and confident people who can lead safe and enjoyable sporting activities. The award provides a common foundation for the coaching schemes of the National Governing Bodies of Sport. The course incorporates practical learning sessions and leaders must complete a period of volunteering in the local community to gain the award.

In Northamptonshire, Sports Leaders Awards are run locally in schools by PE teachers and in the local community by the Local Sports Development Team. Please see www.sportsleaders.org for more information about this course.

If you would like to run or attend a Sport Leader Award Course, contact the Sporting Volunteers Officer on 01604 236215.
