How Much Physical Activity Should I Take?
In order to get the health benefits of exercise the Department of Health recommends that we undertake:
30 minutes of ‘moderate intensity’ physical activity on at least 5 separate days of the week (5 x30)
- Moderate intensity physical activity raises your heart rate so that you feel warmer and breathe slightly harder than normal
- It doesn't have to be 30 minutes all in one go!
- You can break it down into two lots of 15 minutes for example, cycling to work and back 15 minutes each way
- The 30 minutes needs to be achieved all in one day
