Become a Walk Leader
Training to become a Voluntter Walk Leader
Walking for Health offers free training to people who are willing and able to lead health walks in their community.
There are regular training dates across Northamptonshire at varying days and times. The courses are always FREE and as the course is for you to become a volunteer leader you can commit to as many or as little walks as you like.
Anyone who is interested in applying for this course should:
Have attended a local health walk scheme or be in the process of setting up a scheme

The course is a practical day and covers topics such as:
- Risk assessments
- How to lead a health walk
- Benefits of and barriers to exercise
- Information on specific medical conditions
- Benefits of the natural environment for health and wellbeing
- Resources available to you to make the most of your new skills, including a
- Volunteer Walk Leader Manual and walk leader certificate.
