Who is AoR for?

Blood Pressure

To be eligible for the AoR scheme you will need to be covered by at least one of the following categories. If you would like to join the schene and believe you are eligible then please contact your GP, Pratice Nurse or Health Visitor and ask about being referred onto the programme.

Are you Overweight?

This scheme can help people who are moderately obese with a BMI OF >30 with no related health complications or >28 with co-morbidities. Regular exercsie can raise your metabolic rate and reduce your weight by helping you burn off calories more efficiently.

Do you suffer from Stress or Depression?

If you are currently diagnosed with mild to moderate symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression then joining AoR could help to improve your confidence and general well being.

Do you have Type 2 Diabetes?

If you have diabetes that is controlled mainly through dietary restrictions then you will benefit from a more active lifestyle. Regular exercisecan lower your blood glucose levels and improve the effectiveness of insulin.

Do you have problems with your Cholesterol?

People with high cholesterol (readings of 6.5mmol/l or above) or on medication to control their cholesterol are eligible for referral onto the scheme, please contact your GP for more information.

Has your family got a history of Heart Disease?

People with a family history of heart disease but no current symptoms or other risk factors may develop it in later life. A programme of regular exercise such as the AoR scheme is an ideal way to lower that risk.

Are you suffering from Impaired Strength or Mobility?

People who suffer from Osteoarthritis or Osteoporosis but hve no risk of fracture are eligible for the scheme. Regular activity will help to keep bones strong and improve muscle stregth, please contact your GP to find out more.

Are you a new mother?

New mothers may be eligible for referral onto the scheme, if you are a new mum please contact your GP, Practice Nurse or Health Visitor to find out more.

Are you Quiting Smoking?

If you are a smoker who is trying to quit and have no other CHD risk factors or symptoms of impaired respiratory function, then you may be eligible for referral onto the scheme.
