The West Glebe Development in Corby
The project was a new build of a MUGA and astro turf on an open space area in the centre of town. The project also put into place 2 part-time activity co-ordinators for 3 years.
The project has been incredibly successful and the young people of the local community have benefited most. In the evening the astro-turf is fully booked, and there have been several clubs launched from the site - i.e. rounders club, basketball sessions.
The project was funded by Active England and is managed by us (the Borough Council). £325,000, in total £250,000 capital and £75,000 revenue.
The site went live in February and we have had a great response with the holiday sessions seeing 278 young people over ½ term and 373 At Feb ½ term we had: (5 days) Total: 278 attending over Easter.
