East Midlands Funders' Forum

The East Midland Funders' Forum is a partnership of public, private and charitable funders of the voluntary and community sector. While it does not make grants itself, it does provide advice and guidance on funding applications through its funding index.

Awards for All

Awards for All is a small grants scheme which enables clubs / organisations to apply for between £500 - £5000 of Lottery funding. The scheme provides primarily revenue funding for example to fund coaching or training courses, publicity materials, equipment, start up costs and volunteers expenses. No partnership funding is required.

Football Foundation

Foundation for Sport and the Arts

Set up by the football pools promoters, this body has around £60 million annually to donate to sport and arts organisations. Grants have been given to a wide range of projects. Information, including details of the criteria for the allocation of funds, is available from: Foundation for Sport

National Lottery

The National Lottery was launched in November 1994. Sport England distributes the funds for sport in England via the Sport England Lottery Fund. Lottery funded capital projects range across the whole spectrum of sports facility provision, from local to international, with priority given to projects that benefit the whole community Revenue funding is available to elite-level sportsmen and women to assist with training, coaching, travel and so on. 

To date, over £700 million in capital awards and £20 million in revenue awards has been made available for sport through the Sport England Lottery Fund. Information on how to apply to the Community Projects Capital Fund is available in the booklet

This free booklet can be obtained by telephoning the Lottery Line: 08457 649 649. Revenue funding applications are invariably made through the appropriate governing body for your sport.  

National Governing Bodies

Some governing bodies have their own grant schemes. It is advisable to check with the governing body for your sport to ascertain whether:

  • It offers grant aid
  • It knows of a funding source for your sport

East Northamptonshire
The Council's Sport and Leisure Grant Scheme provides constituted sport clubs and leisure organisations within the district with the opportunity to apply for funding to assist in the development of projects:

  • Children's Play Equipment
  • Capital Projects
  • The Grant Scheme may fund 30% of the project cost, up to a maximum of £2,400
  • Other Laudable Community Leisure Initiatives - covers any other project not covered by the Grant Scheme criteria that would be of tangible benefit to the community.
  • Up to 50% or £500 of the total cost. 25% raised by the community.

Kettering
Kettering offers a small grants scheme. The scheme will consider funding up to a maximum of £1000, although grants awarded are generally between £100-£200. The grants scheme will fund community based projects, young people focussed projects or club development work.

Sportsmatch

This is a government initiative, which aims to improve the quality and quantity of business sponsorship at the grass roots level.
