Northampton Saints and England flanker Tom Wood was named Sports Personality of the year at the seventh Northamptonshire Sports awards , presented by Radio 5 Live broadcaster Mike Sewell, at the Corby Cube yesterday.
Other sports were well represented with Olympic boxing hopeful Chantelle Cameron taking the Local Sportswoman award for the second year in a row, Basketball Club the Northampton Nets winning the Community Club of the Year award and Swimming coach Andrew Sharp winning Coach of the Year award
The awards culminated in the presentation of the Lifetime Contribution to Sport award, won by Dennis Lawrence, who has been involved in cricket as a player, coach and administrator for over 60 years.
