Pitsford Pirates host national championships
Pitsford Pirates' team of young windsurfers rounded off a memorable 2010 season with a determined showing at the prestigious RYA Team15 Champions Cup national final held at Northampton Watersports Centre last weekend (9-10 October).
More than 100 up-and-coming windsurfers representing nine Team15 teams, from as far afield as Scotland and Cornwall, took to the water on Pitsford Reservoir for what is considered one of the most prestigious events in British junior windsurfing.
Northampton Watersports' Pitsford Pirates 15-strong team lined up at the national grand final for the first time in several years, having won the qualifying 2010 Midlands regional series in emphatic style with three event wins out of four.
And after finishing in seventh place, Jon Sweet, Pirates' Team15 co-ordinator, believes Pitsford's talented group of rookies, most of whom were new to the sport this year, have laid down some hugely promising foundations for 2011 and beyond.
