Oarsome Challenge
Two ordinary blokes....One oarsome challenge!
In December 2009 Richard Box and Mick Birchall will attempt to row across the Atlantic ocean as part of the 'Atlantic Rowing Race 2009'. Neither has any ocean rowing experience.
Help Mick & Richard raise £50,000 for the NSPCC and Children's Sport.
"The toughest Rowing Race on Earth"
Described by the organisers WoodVale-Challenge as "The toughest rowing race on Earth". The race requires the teams to row 2500 Nautical miles (2900 miles!) from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua. Rowing alternately two hours on and two hours off Mick and Richard will each row for 12 hours a day. They will have to overcome the challenges of the atlantic weather and waves up to 30 feet high, as well as the awesome challenge of pushing their bodies to the absolute limit. The race can last anything from 36 to 100+ days.
