Kingsthorpe gets Deaf Friendly club award

Kingsthorpe Women's FC win award

Ian Clarkson from the National Deaf Children's Society last week visited Kingsthorpe Ladies and Girls Football Club to award the club "Deaf Friendly" Football Club status. As part of this commitment, the club will welcome deaf players to be involved in the club and support the team wherever they can.

The club is the third football club in Northamptonshire (following Corby Kingswood and Northampton Town) to have now signed up to the Deaf Friendly Pledge and becomes the first all female club to do so.

Kingsthorpe have 2 current England Deaf international players in the team.  Claire Stancliffe, who is 21 has represented both England Deaf and GB in a number of tournaments and April Malin, who is 17 was called up as a 4th reserve for the squad.  Both girls look to have bright futures ahead of them within the England Deaf set up and their club is fully behind them.
