Keatings wins big at Sports Awards

British Olympic Gymnast Daniel Keatings was named Sports Personality of the year at the sixth Northamptonshire Sports awards , presented by Radio 5 Live broadcaster Mike Sewell, at the County Ground in Northampton yesterday.

Martial Arts and boxing were well represented in the awards with ABA Cruiserweight Champion Simon Barclay winning the Local Sportsman of the Year and European Kickboxing Silver medallist Chantelle Cameron taking the Local Sportswoman award.

The awards culminated in the presentation of the Lifetime Contribution to Sport award, won by Maurice Johnson, who this year celebrated 50 years as Club Secretary for Desborough Town Cricket club.
