Jog Northants...Coming Soon!!!
Northamptonshire Sport is looking to roll out a new countywide jogging programme called ‘Jog Northants’ to encourage more adults to start jogging on a regular basis with people of similar fitness levels.
The aim is to establish a network of community based jogging groups in which anyone who is new to jogging, or has not run for a long time, can be guided through a series of gentle walking and jogging programmes led by a qualified Jog Leader.
What will Jog Northants do?
-
Organises training for Jog Leaders
-
Provides support and advice to help establish and promote jogging groups in local community and workplace settings across the county.
How will Jog Northants work?
-
Jogging groups will be set up across the county led by a trained Jog Leader who will guide, support and motivate the participants through a 10 session training programme.
-
Some groups will be volunteer-led (at no cost to the participants). Other groups may be required to levy a small fee per session (no more than £2).
-
Jogging groups will be based from leisure centres, work places, village halls, local schools, community centres, sports clubs or anywhere there is enough interest to set up a group.
-
The Jog Leader will lead members of the group through scheduled, progressive training programmes. Initially most of the jogging groups set up will be at a beginner’s level, but as participants become fitter and the network of groups more established, there will be a jogging group to suit all levels of fitness and ability from beginner to the more advanced.
Jog Leaders
The role of the Jog Leader is varied but includes: planning and organising appropriate, structured activity sessions for the jogging group; leading supporting and encouraging group members of all abilities to get the most out of their participation; and actively promoting the Jog Northamptonshire initiative locally within the community.
