Hot Wheels takes off in Northampton
Hotwheels Basketball is a fantastic new Wheelchair Basketball club that is flourishing in Northampton as part of the Change 4 Life Sports Club programme run by the Youth Sports Trust which aims to attract young people who might be inspired by the 2012 Games to take up and participate in a range of Olympic and Paralympic Sports
Hotwheels links to the Northampton Dynamos Wheelchair BB Club who are based at Weston Favell School where School Sports Co-ordinator Martin Spencer has been instrumental in getting the junior club up and running:
Martin said, "The technology of the chair combined with the excitement of basketball is a real winner and shows that wheelchair basketball is a real mainstream game: a sport for all!"
The club trains every Tuesday evening between 5.30 - 7pm at Weston Favell School and are coached by Chris Dabbs and Chris Buchan who also coach the Dynamos.
Several of the club members have also helped to introduce the game at primary school sports festivals which has led to Hotwheels Mini-Basketball Club where Chris Buchan and the 6th formers coach children from local primary schools on Friday afternoons.
